1)How many diapers do I need to cloth diaper?
When deciding how many diapers you need, first consider how often you want to wash them. Then think about how many diaper changes a day you might be doing.
If you are diapering a newborn, they need to be changed 8-12 times a day so starting out with 24 (or two dozen) diapers lets you launder them every other day.
For older babies (over 3 months), a stash of about 15 diapers will probably do and you'll still be able to launder every other day. You can always add to your stash if you decide you need more.
Having more diapers is always nice so you can keep a few in the diaper bag and have some while you are washing the dirty ones. It also helps keep the wear and tear down so that your diapers are used in a larger rotation. If you are constantly washing the same diaper, it will wear out much faster.
2) How do I care for cloth diapers?
See our Cloth Diapering Guide for a thorough explanation on how to care and use cloth diapers.
3) How do I care for a wool cover or soaker?
Using wool is really easy. The great thing about wool is that is doesn't need to be washed after each use. In fact, I wash my wool covers about once every two weeks. Unless it is soiled, of course, then it gets washed right away. For more information on wool washing, see our Wool Care Guide.
4) What do I do with a dirty cloth diaper when I am away from home?
That's easy! With a disposable diaper, you need to find a trash can or else the dirty diaper ends up in your diaper bag or car. yuck! With cloth diaper, just put the dirty diaper in a reusable wet bag (many have zipper closures and designer fabrics) and take care of it when you get home.
5) Do you have a local pick up option?
